This photo was taken on the backside of Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, on August 26, 2011, when I hiked the summit with my son, Liam. The little things you see going up the mountain (and on the ridge line) are “cairns”; 4-5 foot piles of stones, put there to guide hikers up the path at night or, more commonly, during extremely bad weather.
This photo was taken on New Year’s Eve, 2018, by one of my game cameras. It is attached to a tree on the edge of an old hay field about a mile from my house. The camera is a Cabela’s Outfitter Infrared.
