John was born in Little Bay, Marystown, in the Mortier Bay area on Placentia Bay West (the Burin Peninsula). This Little Bay is not to be confused with Little Bay East or Little Bay Islands.

Bridget was born in Long Harbour near Mount Arlington Heights, north of Placentia on Placentia Bay East (the Avalon Peninsula). Her family actually lived on one of the Iona (Rams) Islands, which are in the bay at Long Harbour, beyond Crawley Island.
