Genealogy Update 12-18-17
Well, I pushed most of the way through my “Search for Homer and Minnie” story rebuild.
This search for the was an interesting process that spanned over 2 years of research. Interestingly, I JUST found a new nugget of information about Homer Tidball on Ancestry.com. Since the time since I was actively researching, someone had scanned and indexed an Arizona voter registration book and made it available online. Never having visited Arizona, there was no way I was going to ever find this without someone doing the leg work for me.
I had always wondered what path Homer took from Iowa to Seattle. I imagined that he took a train but never knew if he stopped anywhere else to live for any period of time. And I never knew that Arizona (on its Southern, Mexican border) had a coal mining boom during the early 1900s. Now I know and I hope to visit Lowell/Bisbee Arizona some day during my life. Perhaps this is where he met his fellow lodger and marriage witness, Phillip Gonzales.
When I retire, I pledge to do some cataloging/indexing work like this. My goal would be to help some future family historian solve a small part of their heritage puzzle online, without having to travel to the four corners of the globe to do it.
